 If you have ever been
to Marquette, Michigan, you get the wonderful feel of a beautiful place
with Lake Superior at the front door.
The people are welcoming, friendly, and positive.
Thanks to some friends who were from the area, they were great
guides and companions. The
history of the area features the building block of civilization:
iron. In one of the
area museums it reminds the visitors that “iron” is even more
valuable than “gold.”
This town of around
30,000 does not have the mix that you might find in a place like New
York City, as expected. Also,
you don’t have the feel of the place being overrun by tourists,
although they are around, including me and my family, of course.
Moreover, in the UP or Upper Peninsula, it still appears to be an
undiscovered, summer, recreation place, although there are signs that
this will change.
So in this town that
has its own character, I was even more impressed when I saw a video
store advertising the following on their tall signpost outside:
“A
Beautiful Mind, 100 copies.”
It was good to see that Crowe was appreciated even in the upper reaches of the country.
So to those lucky,
100 fans, welcome to the work of Russell Crowe. You are true
fans for making time to get in your car, stop at the lights, dodge
traffic, locate the store, and hear the cash register ring.
Maybe the remaining
29,900 of the population already pre-ordered at Amazon.com.
