Actor Pierce Brosnan in Mars
Attacks
Actor, Pierce
Brosnan, plays a role in this science fiction spoof. Mars
Attacks, 1996, has an
all-star cast with a well-known and proven director.
Brosnan, as the
professor with the pipe in his mouth, is a fun character to watch.
The entire movie and its premise has many
opportunities to show "dark humor."
All the characters
are introduced in brief segments.
Each character is unique and some have certain quirks, such as
Sarah Jessica Parker and her polka dot chair, Michael J. Fox as the
jealous partner, Martin Short as the President’s right hand man but
picks up ladies of the street, Jack Black with his
overblown ego because of a doting mother, Pierce Brosnan and his comic
and out of proportion pipe. The pipe sticks out just a bit too long.
There’s Danny Devito, the gambler, and Glenn Close as a spoiled
first lady, Annette Bening as an alcoholic airhead who has high-horse
beliefs of the environment but does nothing about it, and instead takes
the chips from her husband to go gambling. Still, her character
tries to practice "higher" views while married to a greedy
man. And finally, there’s Jack Nicholson as the President and
Benning’s husband as the cowboy “who has never seen a cow” kind
of character.
All these characters
are definitely interesting and the stars play their parts well and they
show their talents. This includes those pesky, underhanded
martians who must face the consequences of their ways.
Pierce Brosnan
appears to be having fun with his role and once again, he plays a part
that is different from his previous roles and for an actor, as he has
stated himself, that is heaven
enough.
