Promises gets Golden Globes BAFTA Academy Awards recognition with a nomination
for best actor for Viggo
Mortensen.
This is good news for young, struggling
actors who may have to wait decades and many movies later, while honing
their craft, to get some kind of recognition from the Press (Globes) and
industry colleagues (BAFTA, Oscars).
Like in any "sport," to make it
to the professional level means you have to "love" your work in
one way or another, to be able to make it through the long haul. The
monetary awards are nice also, but it, in itself, won't last you through
the long haul.
So congratulations to Viggo Mortensen and
Eastern Promises for the recognition.
