Alatriste
Brief Review:
Thank you to Pilar
Massaguer for sending me a DVD of Viggo’s Alatriste movie.
I recognized scenes that were in the first two books so I
was able to follow a bit of what was going on because the movie
is in Spanish. The
movie does a great job of showing you the past and present life
of Alatriste. Viggo does a good job and you can appreciate
how he has varied his roles.
A genuine scene is when he visits his “diseased”
mistress. Overall,
the movie has a beautiful look to it.
Also, after my walking tour of Barcelona in 2006, thanks
to Pilar, I’m able to feel some of the alley walking scenes in
the movie. I’m
able to feel how the architecture shows Spain’s power and
downfall as shown in the movie’s last scene.
