When we think
of movie cowboys, each one portrays the "cowboy" by
his own screen personality. Think John Wayne, Gary
Cooper, Clint Eastwood and many more of your favorites not
mentioned here.
Include on
this list Viggo Mortensen. What makes him unique?
His cowboy is not set within the boundaries of the "Old
West." True, Eastwood filmed his breakthroughs in
Italy, but the setting was still "The
West."
Viggo
Mortensen as Frank T. Hopkins gives a new look to the
"cowboy" and a new definition--what he portrays in the
movie.
For instance
as shown below,
a cowboy is being chased by a big desert sandstorm rather than
the usual tumbleweed. Don't see
that very often.
