Pictures from
hidalgo movie. Because the movie used five, different
paint horses, the picture of TJ on the right next to the picture
of his costar on the left show how the movie needed the various
talents of each horse. The markings on left eyes differ.

The markings
of TJ at the premiere indicate that TJ was the one used in the
two movie pictures shown:

Why did
screenwriter, John Fusco, take home one of the
"Hidalgos" after filming ended? He says,
“After I get attached to a horse on the set, I don’t like to
think of them staying in a hard-working movie string being
shipped around. I like to reward them and bring them home
to the good life.”
Would Viggo
Mortensen have a similar answer?
