As we await the opening of this movie on December 17, 2003, as shown on the
home page of the official Lord of the Rings website, http://www.lordoftherings.net/,
we will know the ending will be "happy" in the sense that evil will be
overcome. We will again applause, not because of this
"storybook" ending, but because of the experience of another,
wonderful film.
Should other filmmakers tackle The Lord of the Rings in the future, they may
have to wait a few generations. Why? To avoid the competition of
memory.
