The date is December 23, 2003 and it's almost
Christmas and there is a lot of gift wrapping that still needs to be done
as we await and watch our kids or loved ones open their presents. In the Christian faith, this time of year is Advent from the
Latin word, "advenire'" which means "to come to," according to the
dictionary. Thus, it is a time of awaiting for the birth of Christ.
This sense of waiting was applicable to many LOTR
fans who have waited for the last movie, and also to Viggo Mortensen fans
who were curious about his role in ROTK.
This does not mean that gift
opening, our chosen faith, and ROTK have any connection whatsoever, except
that they both represent a time of "now-waiting" in our lives.
As a VM and Aragorn fan, the
final scenes of him at the top of Minas Tirith when he is reunited with
Arwen is a "meaningful point" that is another example of what
makes the movie a success.
