The Hours is a movie that takes

style, where the story takes place in only one day, can also be seen in
the successful television program, 24 Hours, which stars Kiefer
It can also be seen in Training Day,
which stars Denzel Washington. This movie is well filmed because
you are on edge the entire time. You can't relax, and so the movie successfully illustrates the "environment" of the characters
in the movie. Thus, in one day, the life of the character of
Denzel Washington is pretty much mapped out and is clearly portrayed in
that one "training day."
This style of telling a story in one
day has also been used in the past. For example, in Eugene
O'Neill's play, Long Days Journey Into Night, the story of the
mother, father, and two brothers is shown in one day.
As a writer, this is a great exercise
to completely focus on what is important in telling your story,
especially when you are limited to only one day.
