There
is good news and bad news on free screenwriting software. The good
news is that there is "free" software and there are even
"free" gifts when you buy the software.
The bad news is that the
"free" software is usually a downloadable demo version only and
so it is only completely free as long as you don't need to print your
script. This "print" feature, which is not enabled in the
demo version, is important because the industry still relies on hard copy,
bound scripts. Should this change in the future, when scripts can be
exchanged electronically, these free softwares will adapt. Still,
even if it is only the demo that is free, you receive some great gifts with the purchase.
