Here are some free screenplay software:  Movie Magic Screenwriter, Final Draft, and Sophocles.  These programs offer free downloads for demo purposes only.

Movie Magic Screenwriter so far has the most capabilities as shown on their page that compares their program with Final Draft and Hollywood Screenplay.  But if all you want is something to simply format your script, then Sophocles or the other programs that are compatible with word processing are probably what you need.

Whatever your priorities are as you research these programs, at least they provide free demos and by doing this, they allow you to make an informed purchase.
